Streamline Your Life with Simple Luxury Life Hacks
When my extra tall 10-year-old daughter moves into women’s sizes, eats as much as me, and wants everything fabulous that’s not in the toy aisle, it’s time to get smart about how we want to live. I’ve never been good at settling for an average or boring existence. Now there’s two of us. Since she’s too young for a job to pay for that unicorn frappuccino, I’m hoping to find the “things” and do the “things” at a fraction of the cost or time and maximum benefit.
I’ve been on a search to discover more of these luxury life hacks that save money or time, but offer lasting reward. Here’s what I have:
- Buy a proper coffee maker and flavored syrups to replicate a coffee shop at home.
- Estate Sales – to find that special something that few people have.
- Purchase high quality essential oils and mix them together to blend your favorite scent. Purchase shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, or mango butter, scoop it, add a couple drops of your oil mix and slather it all over your body. Experiment for the right consistency.
- Go to Target and purchase a Pedicure Foot Mask.
- Find the free days at museums and take your tribe. Go to the family art making department before you leave.
- Buy flowers and sprinkle them around your home.
- Buy flameless remote control candles to sprinkle around my home.
- Take a class and learn how to make something you can appreciate time and time again like your favorite Thai dish or a velvety soft crocheted blanket. Online is great too!
- Look into online classes for kids of all ages on sites like Outschool to expose them to new subjects or crafts like the History of Ancient Egypt or Fashion Design 101.
- Find a personal stylist. Sites like Thumbtack will allow you to post the job and people will apply to it with their rates, etc. Get on a first name basis with a stylish store associate that understands your goal.
- A favorite Vitamin C serum that my skin eats up like candy and then glows for hours.
- Use self development apps and podcasts to learn on the go.
- Take advantage of your work benefits – membership discounts, free classes, etc.
- Consignment Stores for that one piece that works.
- Print out your artsy iphone photos and find resale designer frames;
- Consider going to a boutique crossfit gym for personal trainer attention in a group setting for a better price.
- Prioritize one or two subscription boxes to get every month.
- Travel savvy with these clever apps and sites to outsmart the system: Hopper, Skiplagged, Going.com, ThePointsGuy.com
- Try Amazon Subscribe and Save so you never run out or forget about that special something that made you feel and look amazing.
- Up your sleep game with high thread count sheets.
- Go designer with your knobs and handles to upgrade your home.
- Fancy kitchen utensils to make life easier and more delicious.
